Project: Organic to Go

Organic to Go, the nation's first fast casual retailer to be certified organic by the USDA with locations in Seattle, Washington; Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego, California; and Washington DC and Bethesda, Maryland, contracted with Schmidt Productions for food photography of Organic to Go's Fall and Winter menu items. Images were used extensively for print, in-store graphics as well online at OrganictoGo.com.

Project: Something Silver

Having first worked to supply creative materials to Something Silver in 1999, Jonathan Schmidt continues to supply the West Coast's top sterling silver retailer with marketing images. In 2008, an installation of several 5 foot x 8 foot posters were placed in downtown San Francisco's Westfield Centre. The images were also used for outdoor advertising in San Francisco as well as in Something Silver's retail stores from Seattle to San Diego. Jonathan Schmidt supplied the commercial product photography for the jewelry as well as graphic design and sourcing of materials and vendors for the project.

Project: Boma

Boma contracted with Schmidt Productions in 2008 to acquire commercial photography for multiple consumer marketing pieces. The shoots involved product on talent and images were utilized in print consumer mini-catalogs as well as online at www.bomasilver.com.

Project: Luke Satoru

Luke Satoru contracted with Schmidt Productions to provide jewelry photography, web and print graphic design. The project started with the photography of Luke's brilliant sterling silver collection of men's jewelry. The images were then used in a print and trade show marketing materials as well as the new LukeSatoru.com web site.

Project: Boma

Longtime client Boma contracted with Schmidt Productions for several projects in 2008 including wholesale catalog cover photography for their Marcasite and Facets jewelry collections. Having worked with the Boma team since 1998, Jonathan Schmidt has had the pleasure of providing commercial photography, advertising design, logo design, brand development, trade show graphic design, catalog design and marketing services to this well known sterling silver jewelry wholesale company out of Renton, WA.

Project: Kodiak Lodge

Kodiak Lodge contracted with Schmidt Productions to provide commercial photography to highlight Kodiak Lodge's Alaska fishing lodge and guide services on beautiful Kodiak Island Alaska. The project included 4 days of shooting in remote Alaska locations near Larsen Bay capturing fresh and salt water fishing, lodging, cuisine and Alaskan wildlife. 

Schmidt Productions photography was used extensively in the Kodiak Lodge brochure designed by the talented creative team at DEI Creative. Schmidt Productions provided web design for KodiakLodge.com as well as print ad design and production for Kodiak Lodge.

Project: Washington Athletic Club

The Washington Athletic Club is one of Schmidt Productions' favorite and longest running clients. Having worked together since 2004, Schmidt Productions has shot dozens of times with the WAC providing editorial coverage and cover images for the club's monthly magazine. Shoots have covered sports programs, personal training, handball, men's and women's basketball, fitness classes, yoga, children's programs, golf and more. The editorial photography and lifestyle images can be found throughout the club, the club's website and in the monthly magazine.

Project: Moss Adams

Moss Adams, the 11th largest accounting and consulting firm in the United States, and the largest headquartered in the West, contracted with Schmidt Productions to provide corporate portrait photography for their new "Careers" website. The website was developed by the creative team at Design Strategic.

As part of the project, Schmidt Productions captured the personalities of over 4o Moss Adams team members from offices in Seattle, Medford, Eugene, Santa Rosa, San Francisco, LA, Orange County and Phoenix.

Project: Black Hills Molding

Black Hills Molding of Rapid City, SD contracted with Schmidt Productions to provide commercial photography, logo and web site design. The logo design was completed in 1994 and was then incorporated into business card, envelope and letterhead designs. The more recent photography included shots of company team members, facilities and products which were then incorporated into the web design.

Currently, Black Hills Molding is working with Schmidt Productions to develop logo, print and web designs for newer ventures and business entities.

Chelsey Henry once again contracted with Schmidt Productions to acquire commercial product photography for their innovative designs of fashionable, multi-functional handbags, laptop bags, travel bags, totes, and accessories for the everyday modern woman with a mobile lifestyle and multiple roles. Project: University Village

Schmidt Productions recently provided commercial product photography for University Village Mall of Seattle. The project included graphic design by Lesley Feldman (lesley.feldman@mac.com) and portrait photography by J. Garner Photography. The photography and design will be utilized in online and print campaigns in the coming months.

Project: Viper Tee

Schmidt Productions recently had the pleasure of working with an innovative new Seattle company,Viper Tee. Viper Tee is the creator of the hottest new golf tee on the market that boasts longer, straighter drives due to its innovative design. The patent pending design of the golf tee provides minimal ball contact, reducing friction and allowing the ball to leave the tee with the least amount of tee interference.

The project with Viper Tee included product photography as well as web site design. Viper Tee president Kavan Manson responded to the photography and web design by saying, "Hey Jonathan.. Just checked the pages out...looks phenomenal--great job!! Great, thanks for getting on it so quickly. Like I said, I'll let you know if anything comes up but very excited about everything so far. Up next, Viper Tee and Schmidt Productions are scheduled to discuss print marketing services and packaging. I did some test shooting the other day in my Seattle commercial photography studio and had this photo that came out as one of my favorite.

Commercial Photography Website Updated

I spent some time today updating the portfolio sections of my commercial photography website to better optimize it for search engine results. One of the main changes was replacing my flash portfolios with html pages. The html pages contain many of the key words that I am wanting to increase my ranking on such as: commercial photographer, food photographer, product photographer, jewelry photographer, portrait photographer, beauty photographer, advertising photographer.

I also updated my recent clients pages to include 2008 commercial photography clients. I'm hopeful that the changes will help tag my pages better as a commercial photography web site and increase my rankings for searches in Seattle, WA and nationally.

Weekend Hike at Discovery Park

Enjoyed a nice hike at Discovery Park in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood. It was a chilly day but sunny and I had a chance to snap a few shots just for the fun of it instead of for a commercial photography job. That was a nice since I haven't done a lot of personal photography.

Juice Fast Overview

I am attempting a juice fast -- and succeeding -- at least for the first part of the first day! I've decided to try a fast for health (mental, physical, spiritual) reasons and am just getting under way. I'm not sure how long I will go and am trying not to set too lofty of goals and focussing on viewing any number of days as a success with no possible failures. My overall goals are to drop 10+ pounds that I've been carrying around for far too long; detoxify my system and remove some or much of the latent toxins that have been stored in 35 years of an unrestricted American diet; refocus in some ways and explore how the removal of food from a diet adjusts perspectives and values. I'm concerned about being able to stay on the fast long enough to have positive impacts on the goals but we'll see how it goes. I may add more information and links to the initial posting that share more information about the process.

1964 Honda Superhawk

This is my 1964 Honda project that has been sitting around not getting much attention at all. The bike is running now although there is a grinding noise from the front hub area. Could be the disconnected odometer cable or possibly bearings going out. Am concerned the front wheel could seize though so I need to look into it more.
